Product Overview
Summary
The 42-ppm LBP6780dn is Canon’s fastest single-function monochrome laser printer to date and a new addition to the imageCLASS lineup aimed specifically at workgroups in small to medium-sized business. The LBP6780dn’s monthly duty cycle is 100,000 pages and maximum print resolution is 1,200-by-1,200 dpi quality. With a standard 500-sheet input tray and a 100-sheet multipurpose tray, the new machine ships with a maximum paper capacity of 600 sheets, expandable to 1,600 sheets when configured with two optional 500-sheet cassettes. It features a USB 2.0 port and standard Ethernet connectivity along with a front-panel USB port for direct printing. The LBP6780dn ships with automatic duplexing and 768 MB memory along with a five-line LCD panel. The machine is also compatible with Canon Mobile Printing.
The LBP6780dn is based on an improved print engine similar to that used in the 42-ppm imageRUNNER LBP3560, which also employs a cartridge rated at 12,500 pages. The LBP6780dn, however, is configured with a new Cartridge 324 II Hi-Capacity, rated at 12,500 pages and priced at $227. The CPP with existing pricing is 1.82 cents.
Canon is targeting the small and medium-sized business (SMB) market with its new imageCLASS LBP6780dn. It will be available through Canon’s reseller channel and Canon Direct with a minimum advertised price of $699. Competition for the LBP6780dn includes the Lexmark MS410 series and HP’s 45-ppm LaserJet Enterprise M601n. The new Canon monochrome printer started to ship at the end of January.
