Toshiba Enhances e-BRIDGE Mobile Print App For Android Smartphones, Tablets

IRVINE, Calif. – To address the needs of an ever increasing mobile workforce, Toshiba America Business Solutions, Inc. unveils the latest feature-rich version of its e-BRIDGE Print & Capture mobile software app.

The leading managed print services (MPS) provider and business printing solutions innovator’s upgraded app – compatible with all Android smartphone and tablet devices supporting version 2.3.3 (released in February 2011) or later – enables users to wirelessly scan from and print to the company’s e-STUDIO multifunction products (MFPs).

With more robust scan and finishing capabilities, the free new app is particularly appropriate for the bring your own device – commonly referred to as BYOD – crowd. By integrating Re-Rite – Toshiba’s optical character recognition software – users may convert paper documents into editable file formats on the fly and then distribute those files to a shared network folder, an email address or both. The new mobile app also scans to the latest Adobe formats including PDF/A (archive) and Slim PDF (high compression) protocols.

As a result of adding a new stapling option, the new e-BRIDGE Print & Capture app now answers user’s paper finishing needs.  This feature is ideal when sending documents to an e-STUDIO MFP while rushing across the building for a meeting.

To help lessen an organization’s environmental footprint, the mobile print software features Toshiba’s Toner Save mode as well as the e-STUDIO’s Omit Blank Page option.

“As per IDC research, by 2015, 58 percent of tablet users and 50 percent of smartphone users will be engaged in mobile print,” said Dinesh Srirangpatna, research manager, transformation at IDC.  “Toshiba is embracing this trend by making it easy to print across all Toshiba e-STUDIO multifunction products from mobile devices. Additionally, Toshiba is further helping users migrate to the cloud with Re-Rite document scan functionality.”

Aside from the software’s new feature set, it maintains all of the innovative functionality of Toshiba’s earlier e-BRIDGE Print & Capture mobile print app including:

— Scanning from an e-STUDIO MFP to an Android device;
— Attaching scanned files to email and sharing documents with other Android applications;
— Uploading files to a cloud storage support service such as Box.com, Google Driver SkyDrive and Dropbox;
— Range of available scanning formats including JPEG, TIFF and as well as the aforementioned PDF protocols;
— Quick Response – or QR – code creation from an Android smartphone or tablet, which may be affixed to any Toshiba MFP to activate printing.

“As today’s employee is increasingly using a smartphone or tablet for work, it becomes more important to allow them to print from their mobile device anywhere they may happen to be in the office – whether meeting in a conference room or having a hallway conversation,” said Bill Melo, vice president of marketing, services and solutions at Toshiba America Business Solutions, Inc.  “With the introduction of our new mobile app, we now enable a workforce to very easily capture and print information from virtually anywhere in their building.”

e-BRIDGE Print & Capture is also compatible with Private Print and other user authentication applications.  A download of Toshiba’s new mobile app is available on Google Play.
