Using Projection Mapping

Tokyo, February 28, 2014 -Serph, an artist gaining popularity among ardent music fans, held a live performance event on January 11 at LIQUIDROOM in Tokyo’s Ebisu district, featuring projection mapping technology for which Ricoh’s high-end projectors*1 played an integral role in expressing the creative and fantastical world.

The event had a box set on the concert stage, against which four PJ WX6170N*2 units projected video images on screens on each surface. The projectors displayed a variety of clear patterns along with the music Serph played in the center of the box, and supported the innovative stage performance.

The PJ WX6170N can project bright, clear and large images over a wide open space with its high brightness of 5,500 lumens (lm)*3. The Serph concert movie below demonstrates the unconventional potential of projectors capable of such high-quality and artistic production that appeals to viewers’ senses.

We have a notion of projectors being used to project documents and other materials onto meeting room walls or on dedicated screens, but recent products can project in a range of places and spaces, as in this event, and the objectives of their use are expanding. Ricoh will continue to actively offer not just office equipment but also solutions that allow customers to use our products in their promotional activities at events, showrooms, and stores.

Ricoh will continue to break free from conventional notions and provide new visual experiences using the latest imaging technology.

*1 Luminous flux output (brightness) of 5,500 lm or above
